Chibi Reacts; Gamecube Games Disks Will Not Be usable With The Wii U

So I just read this article on ScrewAttack that you won't be able to use your GameCube game disks on their new console the Wii U (read article here). That's a bit of a let down as there are some good games on that system like The Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker and Super Mario Sunshine.

Before Nintendo's press conference at E3 2011 took place I had made some predictions about what would happen Here.

Now I'm going to go over them to see if I was right.

Chibi Reacts; The Wii U Nintendo's new Console and Controller

wii u controller image shown at E3 2011 with New Super Mario Brothers
So Nintendo just revealed their new console, well the controller at least. The console will make use of the Wii's controller the Wii mote as some call it. Or you can use this strange device to the left.

What's most notable is that it has a 6.2" touchscreen.  This is used not just for added game play mechanics, but as a second screen in case someone wants to use the big screen for television.

Now people are already going on about the name, "what kind of name is Wii U?" "that name sucks." and all of the sorts. But may I remind you that the Nintendo Wii had the same problem when it was announced.

Now their are already third party developers developing games for the system. Now I think I can see some of the potential in this new concept for a game system, But I'm still a bit confused. I'm not sure how I should react to the console. I'll probably be like this till I see more people trying it out, finding out what they thought of the Wii U. Or perhaps I will have to wait to try it myself.

In all, I'm pretty excited to find out how developers will use the console and controller in their games.
