Umbreon known as Blacky in Japan is a
rare Pokemon that evolves from Eevee when it levels up at night or
around a Moon Shard with high happiness.
In Pokemon Colosseum it is your starter
Pokemon alongside it's counterpart and other Eevee evolution Espeon.
Umbreon's appearance is simular in
shape to a fox except it is completely black except for it's red eyes
and yellow bands on it which glow when it's active. They are often
seen staring at the moon.
Umbreon are usually found in dark areas
such as thick forest but mostly under the care of people. They are
not found in the wild of any of the main stream Pokemon games only
accessible by either trade or evolving an Eevee.
Umbreon is Gary Oak's (Shigeru Okido
in the Japanese version) partner Pokemon similar to how Pikachu is
Ash's. It was revealed that Eevee was his original starter Pokemon
but at some point it evolved, although it was not shown since he's
not the main character.
Minimum stats are calculated with 0 EVs, IVs of 0, and a hindering nature.
Maximum stats are calculated with 252 EVs, IVs of 31, and a helpful nature.
Umbreon's stats are suited to defense
along with a decent HP, this is something to keep in mind if you plan
on using one.
Since it's pure Dark there is no much
weakness to this Pokemon. Just be careful of Pokemon that use
fighting and Bug attacks. However it doesn't have much type
resistance either, only Ghost and other Dark. It does have complete
immunity to Psychic attacks. This makes it good against those
powerful and annoying Psychic Pokemon such as Mewtwo.
The moves I'd recommend for Umbreon
are;
Feint Attack:
With a power of 60 it's not very
powerful but with the type match the power is actually 120 and if the
opponent Pokemon is weak to it then it's 240, so it can add up. It's
also useful if you find the target hard to hit since this move
doesn't miss.
Psychic:
You'll need a Tm for this one but it'll
surprise those fighting types a problem.
Dark Pulse:
More powerful than Feint Attack with a
power level of 80. This attack may be more powerful and can make the
opponent flinch (%20 chance) but the Tm needed to learn this is only
in Generation 4 which is Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, and
Soul Silver. It's up to you but I'd probably take Feint Attack
instead.
Confuse Ray:
Confusing your opponent %100 of the
time can be very useful. Making your opponent hurt themselves while
you dish out more damage, great.
Dig:
This is another attack you should
consider. It will help round out the attacks you got and with the
power level of 80, not bad.
